In late 2018, I chose Nicholas Borrell to design extensive remodeling and updating of the home I purchased in Lafayette, CO.

At the time, I was living in Indianapolis, IN, where I had lived for over 40 years. It was a move of mixed emotions. I was eager to live near my Colorado family and sad at leaving the life and friends I loved in Indiana.

The Lafayette remodeling occurred throughout 2019. I would fly to Colorado for part of every month to meet with Nick and the contractor, as work progressed. When I was in Indiana we would communicate via email, text, and phone.

     From the first conversations by phone through the entire project, Nick had great ideas. He listened to me carefully. He was always patient when I struggled to make decisions.

Together, we navigated details and issues. He and the contractor made a great team. Nick referred me to contacts in the industry when I was choosing products. He was conscious of the issues, such as cost, quality, availability, and suitability of the products I was considering.

     Nick’s biggest accomplishment was remodeling a house with a floor plan that I really disliked. Now it is a house that is more desirable and functional for me.

I never thought that would be possible!

Nick also designed a plan to finish the basement. Now it has a guest bedroom and bath, plus a small kitchenette, and a large multi-use room.

As a former Design-Build professional, Nick has built and remodeled everything from smaller homes to mansions. His projects are located on the east coast and in the western mountains. Designing living environments is in his blood.

Nick’s wife, Anne, was an invaluable guide. She supported me when I needed to choose paint colors for inside and outside. Nick and Anne are easy to work with and a delight to know, and I consider them to be my friends.

I love the design and color choices we made.

The quality of the work is outstanding. The house fills me with happiness.
